Scarce Dutch Contract Vickers Model 1906 Luger Semi-Automatic Pistol with Holster, #9015, 9mm cal., 4" barrel, rust blue finish, straw colored small parts, checkered walnut grips, inverted-"V" front sight, fixed rear sight with small "V"-notched groove, grip safety, with one original unmarked magazine with wood base. Pistol is marked "VICKERS/LTD" on the toggle link, chamber is blank. Left side of receiver with Dutch "(Crown)/W" proof. "Rust" safety marking. British proofs on underside of the barrel; "(Crown)V" proof on top of the breechblock and toggle link. Matching visible numbers, except for back of the right grip. Imported by Simpson Ltd. and marked on the front of the frame, above the trigger guard. Includes an original Dutch leather holster with brass hardware, and pouch on the leading edge with oiler/ cleaning rod. Holster displays Dutch markings on the front flap, "CW/N/8 42/Z". Pistol is in good overall condition as arsenal refurbished, retaining approx. 70%-75% blue; 60%-65% straw colors. Thinning and toning to the barrel, front and backstrap accounts for much of the finish loss. There is salt and pepper type pitting scattered along the barrel and receiver; little heavier on back of the frame. Factory lettering and proof marks are clear. Grips show expected age and wear, consistent with the rest of the pistol; left grip with a few small pieces missing from along the back edge; right grip with a few more noticeable handling marks and flattening of the checkering. Action and hold open function properly. Bore rates very good+ overall and is bright with well-defined rifling. The original metal spring release on the magazine base was broken off and nicely repaired with a small piece of sheet metal. Holster is in good condition, displaying signs of moderate age and wear, stitching is complete, brass pieces show normal toning. One of 5,900 pistols assembled Post-WWI by Vickers Ltd, England, for the Dutch military. Est.: $2,500-$3,000. (C&R/PPT)
