Scarce Immediate Post-WWII Springfield M1 Garand, #3880673, .30-06 cal., 24'' barrel marked ''S-A-3-46'', parkerized finish, SA/NFR marked small Ordnance wheel cartouched walnut stock, with small Ordnance wheel to pistol grip flat; late war stamped triggerguard, Type 3 lock bar rear sight, with all correct Springfield late war parts. Formerly in the James E. ''Mac'' McCollum collection, with letter from Scott A. Duff. Condition is excellent. This immediate post-WWII rifle appears completely original and seldom are examples in this serial range found for observation. Approx. 92%-94% original factory finish remains. Buttplate shows little wear. Stock with crisp cartouches. Action is good, bore is bright. Throat erosion 2.5; muzzle wear 1.5; chamber area is bright. Est.: $2,500-$3,500. (C&R)
