Scarce Smith & Wesson .44 Hand Ejector First Model Target (Triple-Lock) Double Action Revolver, #14164, .44 S&W Spec. cal., 6.5" pinned barrel, blue finish, checkered walnut diamond center grips. Target sights include a pinned blade front and adjustable notched rear. Hammer and trigger are color case hardened. Frame and yoke with matching assembly numbers (4602). Barrel, cylinder, yoke lock and extractor are numbered to the gun. "44TL" is scratched into the back of the right grip. Shipped to Stambaugh Thompson, Youngstown, OH., Dec. 14, 1917; with factory letter signed by S&W Historian Roy G. Jinks. Letter does not list any of the revolver's features. Condition is very good retaining approx. 80%-85% original factory blue, with the heaviest losses to the front and back strap. There is also some additional wear at the muzzle, edges of the frame, and index line to the cylinder. Otherwise, metal has general light scratches and handling wear associated with age and moderate use. Approx. 70% muted case colors remain. There is light pitting on the sides and face of the trigger. Grips show moderate handling wear, checkering is crisp. Action cycles smoothly and cylinder locks up securely. Bore is very good showing normal wear, rifling is still clearly defined.
