Secret Service Special Revolver .38 #250184
Vintage trade name double action top-break revolver chambered in .38 Smith & Wesson. The "Secret Service Special" revolvers were commissioned by Fred Biffar Co., a Chicago based firm, in the early 1900's. They were produced by several different manufacturers, this one was likely made by either Hopkins & Allen or Harrington & Richardson. Configuration: Nickel plated finish, ribbed 3 1/4" barrel, round blade front sight, 'v' notch rear sight cut into the top of the "T" shaped barrel latch, smooth case hardened crescent trigger, case hardened hammer with knurled low-spur, blued trigger guard, fluted five-shot cylinder, steel frame and custom two-piece mother-of-pearl grips. Matching serial numbers are observed on the frame, barrel & barrel latch. Revolver retains approximately 85% of its nickel plated finish showing scattered losses. Action is sound with good lock-up, the bore is bright with good rifling & a moderate amount of pitting, and the mother-of-pearl grips are very good with minor losses & a large cavity in the back of the right panel. Condition is NRA Very Good. ***C&R Firearm***
