Single shot lever operated falling block rifle manufactured circa 1863, converted to use metallic cartridges circa 1868. Breech block is centerfire, most likely chambers 50-70 Gov't Carbine. Features blued finish, two piece smooth wood stock, 22" barrel, blade front & ladder rear sights, lever lock, sling bar with ring. Appears to originally used a tape priming system. Bore is good condition, bright with some frosting and some light pitting, shallow rifling. Retains 70% reblued finish, with edge losses and scratches, thinning and graying in many places throughout. Pits and other blemishes visible under the re-finish, as well as partially eroded letters and markings. No caliber marking. Wood is good condition, lightly varnished, with many small dents. Deep & even stock cartouche on left butt: "DFC" in box. Condition is NRA Very Good (as refinished) *** Antique Firearm *** [From the Jim Sigmon Collection]
