'Long Range Rifle' Exhibition embellished antique falling block single shot sporting rifle, manufactured circa 1877-1880 with only 230 reported to have been produced. Features fine scroll engraving on the barrel & receiver with nineteen gold wire inlays, 30" heavy barrel without markings, dovetailed blade front sight with bead top, dovetailed rear sight with small notch & bright vertical indexing bar, early Lyman No 1 tang mounted peep sight, case hardened receiver, engraved steel sideplates with embossed gold buffalo on the left side & bear on the right, smooth trigger, automatic safety, multi-point checkered select walnut forend with ebony cap and pistol grip shoulder stock with beaded right handed cheekpiece, grip cap & factory hard rubber buttplate. A ring tag attached to this rifle reads" Sharps Borchardt 45-3 1/4" Deluxe Engraved Gold Inlaid #20857" & "Kellogg". Rifle exhibits nearly all of it's blued & case hardened finish showing very little wear. Action is sound, the bore is excellent and the wood stocks are fine.
