Antique falling block single shot rifle chambered in .50-70 Centerfire. Manufactured in Hartford, CT as a percussion breechloading carbine and later converted to centerfire & the barrel lined. Features a 22” round tapered barrel with three land bore, German silver blade front sight, flip-up ladder rear sight, smooth curved trigger, removed priming mechanism from the lockplate, case hardened receiver, removed sling bar, ‘J’ shaped lever with sliding lock, smooth walnut forend with single barrel band, and straight grip shoulder stock with “DFC” cartouche on the left side & smooth steel buttplate. Rifle retains approximately 20% of its original finish showing honest wear from use with the balance of the metal surfaces displaying an aged grey/brown patina. The action is mechanically sound, the bore is excellent/bright, and the walnut stocks are good with a repaired crack on the right side of the wrist.
