Incomplete, antique breech loading percussion carbine with .52 caliber bore, manufactured in Hartford, CT circa 1859-1863. Features a 22" round barrel, pinned German silver blade front sight, folding ladder rear sight graduated to 800 yards, smooth trigger, knurled hammer spur, ‘J’ shaped finger lever with sliding locking latch on the lower tang, sling bar with ring, smooth walnut forend with single barrel band and no butt stock. Includes an iron patchbox. The barrel and upper tang are stamped “C. 444” and the underside of the upper tang is stamped “444”. The lock is stamped “C.SHARPS’ PAT./OCT.5TH 1852.” and “R.S.LAWRENCE PAT/APRIL 12TH 1859”. Remnants of case colors are found on the breech block, finger lever, trigger plate and receiver. Some traces of bluing can be found on the barrel and hammer (reblued). The balance on the metal surfaces display an aged brown patina. Action is sound, the bore shows strong rifling & rust and the forend wood is very good. Condition is NRA Fair. ***Antique Firearm***
