Small Firing Model of a Bronze Cannon, with Carriage, ca. 17th or 18th Century. Bore is approx. .750''; cannon is approx. 8-3/4'' long and approx. 1-3/4'' wide at the widest point; flared muzzle is approx. 1-3/4'' wide. Dark patina to the bronze body. There is a small touch hole and cup for priming powder. Cannon sits in a wooden carriage and is retained with very old iron straps and bolts that appear to be hand forged. Wood wheels have forged iron bands around the outside and around the inside of the hub. Wheels are approx. 12'' in dia. and approx. 20'' long from the front of the wheels to the rear of the central mounting foot. Condition is good, the wood showing a dark aged patina, with numerous scuffs, scrapes, dings, cracks, and chips. Iron straps and wheel parts have a heavy pitted old rust patina. Cannon has a dark patina with pitting or rough casting marks in the center. A very neat old model cannon. Est. $800-$1,200.
