Antique English Smith Patent Revolving Two-Barrel Percussion Pocket Pistol, #GB-680, approx. .42 cal., 3'' octagonal barrel group with small post front sights has British proof marks, engraving at muzzles, and ser. no.; brass frame has an internal striker to detonate percussion caps, a graceful right-side cocking lever, folding trigger that drops on cocking, delicate floral engraving and bordering with ''Smith/Patent'' within a right-side ribbon, and integral gripstraps; varnished finely-checkered dark hardwood bag-style grips have a floral engraved German silver buttcap and a vacant oval wrist inlay. Mfg'd ca. 1830s-60s, originally with silver plated barrels and gold-plated frame. Condition is very good+. Barrel group retains traces of silver but is mostly smooth gunmetal gray; frame retains good traces of gold plating; edges, engraving and markings are sharp. Grips are sound with sharp checkering, a few handling/use marks (mainly to right side), fit well, and retain much original varnish. Action is smooth; barrels rotate freely and are secure; smoothbores shine. Est.: $600-$800. (Antique)
