SN: 59317 Large frame U.S. Military double-action service revolver chambered in .45 Automatic, manufactured circa 1918. Features a blued finish, pinned 5.5" barrel, forged round blade front sight, "u" notched rear sight, fluted six-shot cylinder, non-shrouded ejector rod, .265" smooth trigger, .265" hammer with knurled spur, five screw square butt N service frame with lanyard ring on the butt, and two-piece smooth walnut grips. Markings: Frame - [flaming bomb], "U.S./ARMY/MODEL/1917" & "No/59/317". Barrel - "UNITED STATES PROPERTY", "SMITH & WESSON SPRINGFIELD MASS. U.S.A./PATENTED DEC.17.1901. FEB.6.1906. SEP.14.1909", "S.&W. D.A.45", "59317" & "[eagle head]/SA". Revolver exhibits approximately 80% of it's original blued finish showing scattered wear and some light surface rust. Action is crisp with very good lock-up, the bore is very good with minor pitting, markings are sharp and the wood grips are very good. Condition is near NRA Very Good. ***C&R Firearm***
