Smith & Wesson .38 Single Action 2nd Model Revolver, #81529, .38 S&W cal., 3.25" barrel with full rib, pinned blade front and fixed rear sights, 5-shot cylinder, nickel finish, checkered hard rubber S&W embossed two-piece grips. Includes an NRA letter from Jim Supica and Roy Jinks confirming the features and date of mfg. as 1881. Revolver is in very good overall condition retaining approx. 70%-75% flaking factory nickel finish, with light surface rust and erosion evident, more pronounced on the cylinder. Hammer and trigger show muted case colors and screw heads are clean throughout. S&W grips are good with small cracks at the base of each panel but a good fit. Action is good and lockup remains tight; bore is fair with clearly defined rifling. Mfg'd from 1877 to 1891, with just over 108,000 of the 2nd Model produced. Considered a refinement of the Baby Russian 1st Model. Est.: $700-$900. (Antique)
