Smith & Wesson .44 Hand Ejector 4th Model Target (Model of 1950 .44 Target/Pre-Model 24) Double Action Revolver, #S143737, .44 S&W Spec. cal., 4" pinned barrel, blue finish, checkered diamond center walnut Magna grips with S&W medallions, red ramp front sight and white outline square-notched fully adjustable rear sight, color case hardened trigger and hammer. Frame and yoke with matching assembly numbers (51561). Barrel, cylinder, and extractor are numbered to the gun. Number on the back of the right grip does not match (143747) but is curiously similar to the serial number on the revolver. There is a light diamond type rework stamp on the barrel, indicating that this revolver may have been sent back to the factory and changed to the scarcer 4" barrel configuration. Condition is fine retaining approx. 95% blue, showing intermittent slight handling marks and a little more concentrated scratching to the trigger guard. Finish shows a little wear at the muzzle and backstrap, with a thin index line to the cylinder. Factory lettering is clear. Approx. 90% case colors remain. Grip checkering is sharp. There are some shallow indentations to the smooth portion of the grips, primarily on the front edge of the left grip. Action cycles smoothly and locks up securely. Bore is bright with well-defined rifling. Est.: $2,000-$3,000. (C&R/PPT)
