Smith & Wesson .44 Hand Ejector First Model (Triple-Lock) Double Action Revolver, #11318, .44 S&W Spec. cal., 6.5" pinned barrel, factory nickel finish, checkered diamond center walnut grips, with round blade front and standard notched rear sights. Hammer and smooth trigger are color case hardened. Frame and yoke with matching assembly numbers (9187). Barrel, cylinder, yoke lock and extractor are numbered to the gun. Shipped to H.A. Astlett Co., New York City, NY, Sept. 21, 1915, with factory letter signed by S&W Historian Roy G. Jinks. Letter verifies barrel length and finish; grips are listed as checkered walnut. Condition is very good retaining approx. 92% factory nickel finish, with general slight handling marks and a little fine scratching. There is some frosting and specks of pitting, primarily on the cylinder and left side of frame. Factory lettering is clear. Case colors are a little muted, approx. 85%-90% remain. Grip checkering is sharp, bottom edges with some light wear and handling marks. Action remains tight and cycles smoothly. Bore is clean, lands and grooves are clearly defined, but there is a medium sized spot of erosion a few inches down from the muzzle. Est.: $1,200-$1,800. (C&R/PPT)
