Smith & Wesson .44 Hand Ejector Second Model Double Action Revolver, now in target configuration, #19739, .44 S&W Spec. cal., 6.5" pinned barrel, nickel finish, checkered walnut diamond center Magna grips. Target sights include a pinned blade front and adjustable notched rear. Hammer and trigger are color case hardened. Frame and yoke with matching assembly numbers (8535). The numbers on the barrel and cylinder (562813) match each other but do not match the serial number on the frame. Serial number on the frame is located on the left side under the grip and at the butt, which now has a lanyard ring. There is also a factory rework star and "156" located on the left side of the frame, under the grip. Included is a factory letter that states this revolver was originally shipped to Harper Reynolds, Los Angeles, CA., Sept. 16, 1924; with factory letter signed by S&W Historian Roy G. Jinks. The letter also lists the shipping information for serial #S62813 but does not list any of the revolvers features. It does also mention that there is no factory information that this gun was converted by S&W and was likely done by a gunsmith. An interesting revolver due to the above information and star on the left side of the grip frame. Condition is about fine, retaining approx. 95% nickel finish, which appears original. Nickel has light scratches and other typical handling marks. There are a few pin prick blemishes, mainly around the barrel pin. Factory lettering is clear. Approx. 50% muted case colors remain. Grips show typical signs of age and moderate handling wear, checkering is primarily crisp. Action cycles smoothly and cylinder locks up securely. Bore is very good, showing normal wear, lands and grooves are clearly defined. Est.: $1,500-$2,000. (C&R/PPT)
