'Chief's Special Airweight', an American made light weight small frame double-action revolver chambered for .38 Smith & Wesson +P ammunition, and manufactured in Springfield, MA. This revolver was made after 2002. Originally, the Model 637 was a special production item manufactured in 1989 and built on the round butt J-frame with three screws. The 637 was reintroduced in 1996 introducing the new 'magnum' J-frame allowing for +P rated ammunition. Revolver features a satin silver finish (stainless steel & matching color aluminum), 1.86" barrel, serrated ramped front sight, square notched frame rear sight, smooth curved color case trigger, cylinder stop integral to the frame, flat-faced hammer with a checkered spur, floating firing pin, checkered cylinder thumb piece, non-shrouded and knurled ejector rod, smooth grip straps, fluted five-round cylinder, internal frame locking system, and oval textured black rubber grips with Smith & Wesson logos on both sides. Smith & Wesson logos are marked on both sides of the frame with 'Airweight' inscribed on the right side of the frame. The original satin silver finish retained is approximately 99% with nothing remarkable other than a drag line on the cylinder. Metal displays no rust, or deformation. Action is crisp with a solid lock-up, and the bore is bright with strong rifling. The rubber grips are in excellent condition with little to speak of.
Condition is NRA Excellent.
