SN: 14278. A Smith & Wesson .38 Regulation Police revolver with serial number 14278 was manufactured approximately around 1920 to 1921. This model belongs to the pre-war 5 screw I-frame series, square butt, 4" tapered, round. pinned barrel, checkered walnut, grips with "Pat. June 5 1917" stamped in the wood on the bottom of the left panel, serial number matched on the front strap, cylinder & barrel, all S&W marking are clear. The bore is excellent/bright with strong rifling, the grips are overall very good/sound with some handling wear, the blue is about , the action is crisp with good lock-up, opening & closing the cylinder is stiff, needs oil and the blue is about 50% with heavy holster/handling wear, scratches. Comes in a vintage brown leather belt holster, missing the flab, marked "1918 5".
