'3rd Model', vintage double-action-only top-break concealed hammer revolver chambered for .38 Smith and Wesson, and manufactured in Springfield, MA. The 3rd Model Safety Hammerless was produced circa 1909-1937, and the serial numbers range from 170000 to 242981. Revolver features a nickel finish, approximately 3-1/4" ribbed barrel, round blade front sight forged onto the barrel, 'U' notched rear sight cut in a raised portion of the barrel latch, checkered push-up barrel latch, fluted five-round cylinder with automatic extractor, case-hardened smooth crescent trigger, rounded trigger guard, two-screw left side plate, round-butt frame, smooth grip straps, checkered grip safety, and black checkered diamond hard rubber grips with S&W monograms on both sides. Serial number '224714' match on the pistol-grip butt, cylinder, and barrel latch. The original nickel finish retained is approximately 82% with edge wear, handling blemishes, and a drag line on the cylinder. Metal displays no deformation, but there are areas of oxidative speckling. The action is smooth and crisp with a tight lock-up. The bore shows strong rifling, but there is some oxidation present. The grip rubber is in excellent condition with minor handling marks.
Condition is NRA Good.
