'2nd Model,' American made vintage large frame double-action revolver chambered for .455 Webley, and manufactured circa 1915-1917. Imported by Simpson Ltd. out of Galesburg, IL. Revolver features a blued finish, pinned 6-1/2" round barrel, fixed half moon front sight, notched frame rear sight, color case-hardened smooth curved trigger, color case-hardened hammer with checkered spur, fluted six-round cylinder, checkered thumb piece, non-shrouded ejector rod with a knurled head, five screw square butt N frame with lanyard ring at butt, smooth grip straps, and two-piece checkered walnut Magna grips with "S&W" medallions. Matching serial numbers were observed on the cylinder, frame, yoke, and barrel. This revolver has a few scattered British proof marks with one on the butt of the grip. The original blued finish retained is approximately 70% with muzzle wear, edge wear, scattered handling marks, and general thinning. Some of the finish is taking on a brown patina, and there is some light pin-prick pitting. There is a grind mark on the butt of the frame. Bore shows strong rifling with slight peppering, and the cylinder chambers are bright. The action is smooth and crisp with a tight lock-up. Markings are sharp and legible. The grip wood is in very good condition with minor handling wear, and 'DM' is scratched into the bottom of the left grip panel.
Condition is NRA Good.
