Smith & Wesson U.S. Model 1917 Double Action Revolver, #59718, 5.5" barrel, .45 ACP cal., blue finish, walnut grips, reworked blade front sight, and added "U"-notch rear sight. Includes a dark leather holster, which was modified for this pistol. Holster shows age and wear. Butt of the receiver is marked "U.S./ARMY/MODEL/1917/ No./59/718" and an "(eagle)" is marked on the left side behind the hammer. The assembly number "22141" is marked on the receiver and crane. Barrel is marked "SMITH & WESSON SPRINGFIELD MASS. U.S.A./PATENTED DEC. 7, 1901 FEB. 6, 1906 SEPT. 14, 1909" on top, "S & W D. A. 45" on the left, and "UNITED STATES PROPERTY" with "50718" on the bottom. Revolver is in very good overall condition, retaining approx. 70% reblued finish, showing wear on the back side of the receiver, cylinder, and ejector rod. Grips show use, with a few missing wood chips, heaviest on the right grip. Action and cylinder work properly. Bore has some rough spots that appear to be a combination of heavy, stubborn fouling and light erosion; rifling is defined. Est.: $500-$800. (C&R/PPT)
