Smith and Wesson Service Model of 1917 U.S. Army, .45 ACP caliber, Serial #28511. The pistol is in nearly excellent overall condition with a 5 ½” barrel. The pistol retains approximately 95% of its originalblue finish with light wear at the muzzle and a faint drag line on the cylinder noted. The pistol features a five screw frame with muted case color evident on both the hammer and trigger. The smooth wood grips are invery good condition with small mars and compressions and a lanyard ring. The butt of the grip is marked, “US ARMY MODEL 1917”. The bore is good, the action is crisp and markings are sharp. The pistol includes aSmith and Wesson factory letter confirming all features and indicating the pistol was shipped to the United States Government, Springfield Armory, Springfield, MA., on March 8, 1918.
