Sn: 1705 Early British military breech loading single shot service rifle chambered for the .577 Boxer cartridge manufactured circa 1871. Features a blued finish, 19 1/4" steel barrel, fixed blade front sight, graduated rear sight, single barrel band (missing screw), rounded trigger, brass trigger guard, firing pin cover (firing pin missing), flat faced hammer, smooth walnut straight grip shoulder stock, and brass trapdoor buttplate with cleaning rod. Lock is marked '1871/Enfield[crown]/VR', receiver marked 'III' and various military proofs, stock is marked '1/33' and circular cartouche 'R[crown]M-Enfield/1'. Rifle exhibits a dark brown patina with some traces of bluing in the protected areas and shows heavy amount of pinprick pitting on underside of the barrel. Action is mechanically sound, bore is excellent with minor pitting near the muzzle. Wood stock is good+ with several blemishes.
