Early British military breech loading conversion of a muzzle loading Enfield musket chambered for the .477 Boxer cartridge. Circa 1860s. Features a blued finish with a 36 1/2" barrel fixed blade front sight/bayonet load, adjustable rear sight, three barrel bands, brass nose cap, steel cleaning rod, rounded trigger, brass trigger guard, firing pin cover, 1864 dated Enfield lock, flat faced hammer, and full length straight grip walnut shoulder stock with smooth brass buttplate with white leather sling. Includes an original bayonet with reproduction scabbard. The lock has a [crown] / 'V.R' and the stock is marked 'DC' inside of a diamond as well as a circular cartouche with 'R[crown]N- Enfield over the number 1'. Buttplate is regimentally marked with '6/163'. The breech lock is marked 'BSA Co.' and the receiver is marked 'asterisk over 2' as well as other military proofs. Rifle retains approximately 50% of its original finish showing light case color on lock and strong bluing on the barrel with scattered rust. Action is mechanically sound, bore is very good with some scattered pitting and wood stock is very good. Condition is NRA Fine ***Antique Firearm*** From The John F Sukey Collection
