Spanish made military bolt-action "short" rifle chambered for .308 Winchester, and the receiver ring is not dated because it was scrubbed. Imported by Century Arms International out of St. Albans, VT. Manufactured between 1916 and 1951. This is one of the later 1916 variants with a tangent (not "Lange Vizier" or "roller coaster" sights) rear sight, less receiver ring markings, and a re-chambering from 7mm to 7.62x51mm. Rifle features a blued refinish, an approximately 22" barrel, protected dovetailed inverted 'V' front sight, elevation adjustable tangent rear sight graduated to 2000 meters, smooth curved trigger, milled trigger guard, stripper clip guide cut into the receiver and thumb notch cut into left receiver rail, late style turned down bolt with gas port, left receiver rail mounted bolt release, gas venting hole in the left side of the chambered area, bayonet lug, cleaning rod under barrel, checkered flag type 3-position manual safety, and a military style floor plate. The hardwood furniture consists of a smooth straight gripped shoulder stock, smooth full-length forend, smooth handguard, barrel band with a sling swivel, sling loop on the left side of the shoulder stock, and a smooth metal butt plate. A crest is marked on the receiver, along with the serial number and chambering. The bolt, receiver, and magazine floorplate have matching serial number '2Z8282'. The retained blue refinish is approximately 82% with some edge wear, handling blemishes, general thinning with the finish taking on a dark gray patina. Metal displays slight deformation in some of the screw slots with small ding on some of the components. Some light oxidation and pin-prick pitting was observed on the barrel and barrel band. The furniture wood is in fair condition with impressions, handling marks, and a couple of burn marks on both sides of the action. Action is smooth and crisp, and the bore is pretty bright with decent rifling. A locking screw is missing from the floorplate, and the safety fits a bit loose. Most of the marking are clear and legible, but the crest is shallow and partially scrubbed.
NRA Condition is Good.
