The Spanish M1926, often referred to as the M26 or M2, was the primary combat helmet used by both sides during the Spanish Civil War (1936–1939). Often called "Con ala" (with brim), it featured flared sides and a flared rear skirt resembling the German Stahlhelm but with distinctively thinner steel. It was widely fielded by both the Nationalist and Republican forces. Following the war, surviving helmets were often refurbished by the Francoist forces with olive green paint and fitted with a brass insignia bracket for a crowned military eagle badge. This one has the badge with complete leather liner & chinstrap. paint has many scrapes & scratches.
