Repeating rifle made during the Civil War. with 30" round barrel with 6 rifling grooves. Lever action, falling breech, action. Straight grip wood stock with full length forearm with steel cap, 3 barrel bands, sling swivels, flip up rear sight marked to 800 yards and steel butt plate. 7 rd tube magazine in butt stock. Top of barrel marked at top of receiver marked "Spencer Repeating Rifle Co. Boston MA Pat'd March 6, 1860" in 3 lines. Springfield Research Service Serial Numbers Vol. 4 lists Serial #'s 3213, 3323, and 3350 as being issued to the 9th Michigan Volunteer Cavalry in 1865. G. Custer commanded the Michigan Cavalry Brigade at one point. Action is crisp/tight, bore has good rifling but has some areas of pitting, wood is overall very good with a small chip on the right forearm, and some shrinkage around the buttplate. The metal is in the white, with scattered areas of minor pin-prick pitting, appears to have been polished. Bands, and nosecap have traces of blue. Magazine protrudes slightly from the buttplate. NRA Condition-Good as Antique Firearm.
