SN: NM662592 Prototype commemorative 1911-A1 platform race pistol chambered in .45 Auto, manufactured circa 199. The '10th Steel Challenge Commemorative" pistols were intended to be produced with some gold plating & production numbers reaching 500 but only 10 prototypes were ever manufactured. Features a matte hard chrome finish with polished flats, 5.5" barrel, installed compensator, patridge front sight, adjustable rear sight, fore & aft cocking serrations on the slide, serrated trigger with overtravel adjustment, serrated round hammer spur, ambidextrous thumb safety, upswept grip safety, oversized magazine release, 7 round magazine with bumper pad, knurled front strap, knurled mainspring housing with extended/beveled magazine well and two-piece checkered wood grips. Includes the original factory cardboard box and a factory letter expressing the limited production & full production intent. The left side of the slide is marked "10th STEEL CHALLENGE/WORLD SPEED SHOOTING CHAMPIONSHIPS" & "10/of/500" with a silhouette of a man shooting a pistol in front of a world map. Pistol exhibits a couple light handling marks with no major wear observed. Action is crisp, the bore is pristine and the wood grips are fine. Shows no signs of being fired.
