U.S. Military breechloading single-shot service rifle chambered in .45-70 Government. Features a blued & case hardened finish, 32.6" tapered barrel, pinned blade front sight, Buffington adjustable rear sight, steel cleaning rod, piling swivel, sling swivels, two barrel bands, serrated trigger, knurled hammer spur, and full-length straight grip walnut shoulder stock with "U.S." marked metal buttplate. Markings: Breech - "U.S./Model/1884". Barrel - "V/P/[Eagle Head]", "P" & "R". Lock - "U.S./SPRINGFIELD" & "[eagle]/[arrows]". Rear Sight - "R". The majority if it's finish is intact with the barrel displaying bright bluing with some thinning & wear, the receiver displaying a dull brown patina with case colors on the inside, the breech block appearing to have some case colors on the top & bluing on the bottom, muted case colors on the upper tang and thinned bluing on the triggerguard, lock & hammer. Action is sound, the bore is very good with some pitting, markings are very good+ and wood stock is good to very good. Condition is NRA Good to Very Good. ***Antique Firearm***
