U.S. military bolt action service rifle chambered in .30-40 Krag, manufactured circa 1900. Spanish-American War era. Features a blued & case hardened finish, 30" barrel, pinned blade front sight, tangent rear sight graduated to 2,000 yards with rear peep, two barrel bands with bayonet lug & stacking swivel on the front band, side-mounted 5 round hinged magazine with cut-off on the left side of the receiver, polished bolt with two-position safety on the rear, smooth trigger, sling swivels, smooth walnut handguard and straight grip shoulder stock with finger grooves in the forend, trapdoor metal buttplate, circled script "P" & "F" cartouche behind triggerguard, Inspectors cartouche dated 1900 on left wrist. The once case colored receiver, side plate & loading gate now display a mottled dark grey patina. The barrel, barrel, bands, triggerguard & buttplate retain approximately 60% of their collective finish with the balance bare from handling. Small spots of rust are present on the front band, rear sight, buttplate. The extractor still has traces of nitre blue. Action is smooth, the bore is dark/rough. Markings are crisp and the wood stocks are very good with minor scratches/dings. Comes with a two claw U.S. sling. poor condition/broken. NRA Condition-Good. C&R Firearm.
