US military WWI era bolt action rifle manufactured circa 1918, reworked during WWII. Features parkerized finish, walnut shoulder stock with straight wrist, walnut handguard, 24" barrel, blade front sight, empty base for rear sight, drilled and tapped on top of rear sight base and receiver ring, receiver sight with peep aperture, modified swept bolt handle, aftermarket low swing manual safety, magazine cut-off switch, sling swivels, stacking swivel, butt trap with hinged cover, checkered flat steel buttplate. Bore is good condition, mostly bright with frosting and light pitting throughout. Retains 75% finish with bare metal visible on edges, where moving parts rub, patina on bottom metal, flecks of light rust near muzzle, on buttplate. Stock is good serviceable condition, appears lightly sanded & refinished, small dents & dings throughout, gouges to handguard. Barrel marked "SA / (flaming bomb) / 6-42". Stock markings are eroded from sanding, include "SA / GAW" in box on left below receiver, other faint markings. Includes leather two-hook sling, fair to good condition M1905 wood handled bayonet marked "US (flaming bomb) 1918" with poor condition grips, scabbard.
