Early bolt action US Military rifle manufactured circa 1910. Features 24" barrel, blade front sight with clip-on protector, ladder type rear sight, manual safety, sling swivels, stacking swivel. Early 'S' stock with grasping grooves. Bore is good condition/bright with some scattered areas of very light pinprick pitting. Blued finish is about 94% with minor handling loss on the bottom metal, and very minor edge wear. Walnut stock and handguard are very good condition, matching colors, with minor dents and other handling marks, several small filler repairs. Grasping groove edges smoothed, loss of sharp edges. Correct "J.F.C'. in box cartouche on left wrist. Brophy's book states J.F, Coyle inspected these rifles from 1905 to 1918. A small '32' is stamped behind the triggerguard. Barrel marked "SA" over ordnance bomb over "8-09" The Springfield markings on the receiver ring are crisp/clear, . Includes a period M1907 brown leather two hook sling (brass hooks & copper rivets), hinged smooth steel buttplate, correct oiler in buttstock. A really nice conditioned low number, early M1903.
