SN: 1234723. This is a CMP refurbished Springfield 1903 U.S. military issued rifle chambered in 30-06 Springfield. The serial dates to 1921, The top of the barrel is marked “U.S.M.C. 1 – 44 / circled S”. This barrel was made under contract for the United States Marine Corps by Sedgley Manufacturing Company. The front sight clip-on hood is marked "U.S." with flaming bomb & 'R' (Remington), the bolt is marked "B&S" was manufactured by the Brown & Sharpe manufacturing company, which sub-contracted replacement bolt bodies and parts during World War II. The rear ladder sight is stamped "OL" for Oneida Limited, a subcontractor that manufactured replacement and wartime production rear sight components. Has all the standard features of the 1903 with a wartime gray/black parkerized finish, no 'Hatcher' hole, checkered buttplate, the left type "C" stock has a script "C.M.P. cartouche in circle above the trigger, the only stock marking. A repo M1907 sling marked "Rock Island Arsenal: & "1918" attached. The bore is very good/bright, strong rifling, the action is sound, the parkerized finish is about 865 with some minor scratches, rubs and the stock id excellent.
