.45-70 SN: 532454 U.S. military single shot breech loading service rifle chambered in .45-70 Government. This is the last model of trapdoor manufactured, production ran from 1889 to 1893 with only 65,000 made. Features a blued 32.75” barrel, ramrod style bayonet, blade front sight, fully adjustable Buffington rear sight, serrated trigger, knurled hammer spur, two barrel bands, piling swivel, sling swivels and full length walnut stock with trapdoor metal buttplate containing two case extractor tools. Markings: Breechblock - "U.S./MODEL/1884". Barrel - "V/P/[Eagle Head]", "P", & "A". Lock - "U.S./SPRINGFIELD" & [eagle]/[arrows]. Rear Sight - "R". & Stock - circled script "P", "A14" & boxed "SWP/1891" cartouche. Rifle exhibits a mottled grey/brown patina with some case colors visible on the underside of the breechblock. Action is sound, the bore is bright with scattered pitting, the markings are very good and the refinished walnut stock is very good. Condition is NRA Very Good. ***Antique Firearm***
