SN: 113526 Desirable WWI era U.S. Army single action semi-automatic service pistol chambered in .45 Auto, manufactured at the Springfield Armory in Springfield, MA circa 1915. Approximately only 30,000 1911 pistols were produced at the Springfield Armory 1914-1917, as production was halted to manufacture 1903 Rifles. Features a blued finish, 5" barrel, forged low profile round blade front sight, dovetailed rear sight with square notch, smooth trigger, knurled wide hammer spur, thumb safety on the left side of the frame, grip safety, push button magazine release, correct 7 round magazine with lanyard loop, steel frame, smooth mainspring housing with lanyard loop and double diamond checkered walnut grips. Markings: Slide - "PATENTED APR.20,1897/SEPT.9,1902. DEC.19,1905. FEB.14,1911/COLT'S PT. F.A. MFG. CO.", “SPRINGFIELD ARMORY/U.S.A.”, [flaming bomb], [eagle]/[arrows], “E" & "MODEL OF 1911. U.S. ARMY.". Frame - "UNITED STATES PROPERTY”, “NRA”, [flaming bomb] & “No 113526". Barrel - "S" & "P". Pistol retains approximately 70% of its original blued finish showing edge wear, thinning, and finish loss on the grip straps with a brown patina comprising the balance. The barrel hood and inside of the slide are in-the-white with sanding marks. The action is sound, the bore shows light rifling & pin prick pitting, the markings are sharp and the wood grips are good with wear. Condition is near NRA Fine. ***C&R Firearm***
