Springfield Armory Model 1884 Trapdoor Single Shot Carbine, #454986, .45-70 cal., 22'' shortened barrel, blue and case hardened finish, walnut stock, with 1884 Buffington rear sight; front sight has been replaced with a nail. Marked ''U.S./Model/1884'' on breech, with large ''V/P/(eagle)'' on barrel; lockplate marked ''U.S./1884/(eagle)'', two stock cartouches are barely visible on stock, with ''P'' behind triggerguard tang. No U.S. on buttplate tang. Mfg'd approx. 1888. Condition is good as reconfigured from rifle to Carbine. Walnut stock has been cut to carbine style, sanded and refinished, with slight fractures at rear of lockplate and left side near breech. Action is tight, bore is smooth with areas of corrosion. Also includes an Ideal bullet mold, and a Harrington & Richardson Springfield Stalker .58 cal. barrel, dovetailed for sights but no sights are present; overall length of barrel to end of tang is roughly 29-1/2''; bore is excellent with small amounts of residue present.
