American made magazine fed bolt action rimfire rifle chambered for .22 Long Rifle, and issued in 1927. This rifle was designed to mimic the Springfield Model 1903 rifle for training purposes. Rifle features a blued finish, an approximately 24" tapered barrel, Globe front sight with a beaded post insert, modified fully adjustable Lyman target aperture rear sight, serrated curved trigger, turned down bolt handle, accepts 5-round magazines, checkered floorplate mounted magazine release, three position bolt mounted flag type safety, and serrated bolt release lever. The hardwood furniture consists of a smooth semi-pistol gripped Monte Carlo style shoulder stock, right handed cheek weld, smooth forend, sling swivel on barrel band, sling swivel on the bottom of the shoulder stock, and a checkered metal butt plate. Markings on the receiver ring read, 'U.S., SPRINGFIELD, ARMORY, M1922MI., 9106' and the barrel band has a 'U' stamped on it.. Barrel markings show a flaming cannon ball, and a barrel date of '9-26'. The original blued finish retained is approximately 90% with edge wear, handling blemishes, and the floorplate and trigger guard taking on a brown patina. Black paint is chipping from the bolt handle. Metal displays no rust, or deformation. The action is smooth and crisp, and the bore is bright with strong rifling. Furniture wood is in excellent condition considering the age with minor impressions and handling marks. No magazines included.
Condition is NRA Very Good to Excellent.
