SN: 412387 Carbine. Single-Shot. Breech-Block action. Cavalry saddle ring carbine with 22" round barrel. "Indian Wars Carbine". Carbine has been re-finished. Lock plate marked with Eagle, and "U.S. Springfield, and 1873, the Springfield, and part of the Eagle are mostly buffed out. Hinged "Trapdoor" stamped "U.S. model 1873", appears "1878", but its just a deeply stamped "3". "VP Eagle proof on lower barrel. There is also a "A", and "P". (Faint) Serial number on breech block. Correct rear sight stamped "C" for carbine. Bore appears excellent/bright. All the metal has been re-blued There are no cartouches, or "P" proof on the stock, as it has been sanded, and refinished. U.S. marked, hinged buttplate. They did a really nice job, making this a good shooter, or reenactment carbine. NRA Condition-Good/ Re-Finished Antique Firearm
