Springfield Model 1884 Trapdoor Single-Shot Infantry Rifle, #370412, .45-70 Gov't. CF cal., 32.62" barrel has standard markings, Buffington long-range rear sight marked "R" and front sight with detachable oval hood; low-arch trapdoor marked "US/Model/1884"; flat lockplate with standard markings, oil-finished fullstock has vestigial "SWP/1891" (?) inspector's cartouche at left, 2-pc. trigger guard with swivel, grooved trigger, curved buttplate marked "US", 2 spring-retained bands (top with stacking swivel), nosecap, slotted ramrod. Mfg'd ca. 1886-91. Condition is fine retaining approx. 90% smooth armory blue, sharp edges and markings (trapdoor appears refinished). Stock is sound and smooth having minimal marks, fine finish. Action is crisp, bore is brilliant with sharp rifling. Est.: $800-$1,200. (Antique)
