U.S. military bolt action service rifle chambered in .30-40 Krag, manufactured circa 1903. Features a blued & chrome finish, 30" barrel, pinned blade front sight, tangent rear sight graduated to 2,000 yards, two barrel bands with bayonet lug, side-mounted 5 round hinged magazine with cut-off on the left side of the receiver, polished bolt with two-position safety on the rear, smooth trigger, smooth walnut handguard and straight grip shoulder stock with finger grooves in the forend, trapdoor metal buttplate, faint circled script "P" cartouche behind triggerguard, 1902 Inspectors cartouche. This rifle has been re-finished for parade/Honor Guard use. probably the American Legion, VFW. The NY State Police use 98 Krags in their Honor Guard. The barrel bands, trigger guard, side plate and buttplate have been chromed. The bolt/extractor have been jeweled. The barrel/receiver have been re-blued. The upper sling swivel, and stacking swivel have been removed. Action is smooth/tight, bore is very good/bright. Markings are crisp, wood is very good. Metal re-finish is very good. There is some rust on the sling swivel. NRA Condition-Very Good/Re-Finished. C&R Firearm.
