Springfield Model 1903 7x57mm* SN: 1365987
***Needs Chambering Verified by Gunsmith*** Bolt action military rifle has been sporterized. Features blued finish, light colored smooth wood stock appears to be Myrtle wood or a dark maple, darker forend tip appears to be mahogany with some lighter color streaks, 22" barrel, blade front sight dovetailed into a raised ramp, drilled & tapped mid-barrel for a rear sight (not present), low swing two position safety, checkered steel Niedner type buttplate, checkered steel grip cap, right hand cheek piece with shadow line, sling studs, low power vintage Bausch & Lomb "BALVAR" scope with fine crosshairs (appears about 2.5x). Scope mount and scope are designed so that adjustments are made to the mount, the scope does not appear to have any windage or elevation adjustments. Floorplate is relief engraved with a buck or stag's head in an oval, surrounded by oak leaves. Cocking piece has been turned down to a plain cylinder at rear. Sides of bolt shroud have been reshaped. Bolt handle swept back slightly. Approx 13.5" LOP. Bore is good condition, dirty, should improve with a good cleaning. Retains 85% blued finish, with the receiver showing a slightly plum coloration and a thin appearance to the finish. Stock is very good, some slight dents, 13.5" LOP. Chambering a military 7x57 cartridge with a longer bullet will result in the bullet sticking in the rifling when extraction is attempted. Needs gunsmith chamber check, likely has a short throat area for lighter bullets. Condition is NRA Very Good (needs chamber verified) *** C&R Firearm ***
