Guided steelhead fishing in the most remote water in the lower 48!

The Salmon River is a major tributary of the Columbia River. From its headwaters it is freeflowing (dam free) for 425 miles before it joins the Snake River. It is best known as the 'River of No Return' as it flows through the Frank Church Wilderness. Backcountry River Guides is permitted for over 200 miles of the Salmon, specializing in steelhead fishing the most remote water in the lower 48. Our goal is to get away from crowds and get you on fish.

Two people for one day. Begin at 8:00 AM at a designated ramp and conclude at that same ramp about 5:00 PM. Day trips include lunch, snacks, hot and cold beverages. Guests will meet their guide at the ramp.

Idaho weather during steelhead season can be unpredictable, so come prepared! We recommend plenty of warm clothing (in layers), stocking hat, ball cap, gloves, good rain gear and sunglasses. Our boats all have propane heaters but it is no substitute for proper clothing. You will need an Idaho fishing license and a steelhead tag. Two people, one day trip from 8 am to 5 pm.
