Stembridge marked Henry Repeating Rifle, #10950, .44 RF Henry cal., 24'' barrel, brass frame, barrel and frame with matching serial numbers, frame is marked ''S'' for Stembridge, missing front sight, original rear sight has been replaced with a Marbles rear sight that has been dovetailed into the top flat of barrel partially obliterating the Henry New Haven Arms barrel address. Includes the original movie stock, which is rather rough in appearance, and is fitted with a modern replacement stock for more attractive display. Forward sling swivel is original with rear sling swivel screwed into replacement stock. Buttplate appears original and is numbered 424. (Stembridge Gun Rentals of Hollywood, CA, was formed in approx. 1920 by James Stembridge and Cecil B. DeMille to supply guns to the movie industry.) Condition is very good as modified for movie use. Brass frame with overall even toning, as well as scratches and impressions; upper tang appears to have been repaired and shows signs of brazing. Barrel with general dings and mars; loading gate is loose and needs adjustment. Replacement buttstock is excellent. Stembridge marking, serial number and remaining portions of barrel address are clear. Action functions smoothly but lever is loose; bore is dark. Rifle was purportedly used by William Holden in the 1940's era movie ''Arizona'', also starring Glenn Ford. Worth further research. Est.: $10,000-$15,000. (Antique)
