Chilean bolt action rifle chambered in 7x57mm, manufactured circa 1912 by Waffenfrabrik Steyr, Austria. Receiver ring stamped with the Chilean Coat of Arms and "Modelo 1912," the left side of the stock also displays the Coat of Arms." Imported by CAI, St Albans, VT with import marks on the underside of the barrel. Features a blued finish except for receiver and bolt, approximately 29" barrel, inverted 'V' front sight, tangent rear sight graduated to 2000 meters, bayonet lug, cleaning rod, smooth curved trigger, internal 5 round box magazine, integral stripper clip guide cut in the receiver, receiver and bolt finished in-the-white with straight bolt handle & three-position safety on the rear, smooth wood handguard, semi-pistol grip shoulder stock, smooth forend, stock disc on right side & smooth metal buttplate. It appears to have the correct sling and quick detach sling swivel that shows rust. There are two standard sling swivels, and two mounting points, one the trigger guard and one on the buttstock for the QD swivel. Matching serial numbers "B.7588" are found on the receiver, bolt, stock, and floorplate. Rifle retains more than 85% of the blue finish with light erosion by the front sling swivel, stock shows normal to less than normal handling wear. Action is smooth and tight. Bore is bright with strong rifling.
