Superb Condition D.D. Oury Patent Novo Folding Ladies Purse Revolver with Casehardened Frame
Produced in Liege during the late 1800's, the Oury design takes a "velo dog" style compact personal defense revolver and adds a concave folding metal grip; when closed, the complete firearm fits easily in the palm of the hand, and would fit in nearly any reasonably sized pocket, purse, or similar hiding spot. Additionally, the concealed hammer and folding trigger reduce the chances of snagging on the draw or of an accidental discharge while concealed, with the folded grip physically obstructing the trigger.

The barrel and cylinder are finished in high polish blue with niter blue screws and blade sight, with a repeating assembly number "4" on both components, while the frame is finished in a bright color casehardened pattern with niter finish on the trigger, screws and grip latch, bearing the markings "D.D.OURY/Bte" on the left and assorted Belgian proofs on the right. The grip is one piece nickel finished construction, with raised stamped scroll designs, starbursts around the mounting screws and "NOVO" at the top of each side.

Condition:
Excellent, with 98% plus original finish, showing strong bluing, rich case colors and fiery niter blue overall. A small amount of handling and edge wear is present, though significantly less than most examples. The grip is excellent, with a few hints of visible brass on the high points and a few light scratches. Mechanically excellent.

Value: $6,500
