Superb August M. Pachmayr Los Angeles Made Model 1930 Drilling, #AMP1269, 16 ga. x 16 ga. 2-3/4'' x 6.5x52Rmm cal. (.25-35 WCF), blue finish, 25-3/4'' Boehler-Stahl barrels with folding square notch rear sight on 1/2'' quarter rib and ramped front blade sight with an additional folding post; bores measure .655'', chokes measure .025'' and .020'', case-colored double triggers have an extended horn triggerguard and manual sliding top tang safety; barrels have a single crossbolt and shared single extractor with the rifle barrel activated by the underlever; the chambers have no proofmarks. Action and forend iron are fully engraved in very intricate American banknote style with English setter and ducks in pasture on the left side and English pointer and pheasants in a woodland scene on the right side; floorplate has a single elk in a mountain lake setting, artwork is signed: ''AL. POCHON ENGR.'' in small block letters above the serial number; additional engraving is American style vine and leaf scroll which runs along the underlever, top tang, barrel rib, chambers, muzzles and forend iron. Stock and forend are dense straight-grained plain walnut with small checkering panels and broad, deeply chiseled vine and leaf carving extending along the wrist and edges of the small cheekpiece and forend. Length of pull is 14-1/4'' over a brown 1'' White Line ventilated recoil pad, sling swivel loops are 7/8''; weight is 9-1/8 lbs. Overall condition is excellent, having been well maintained, with only a few signs of use. Action is tight, triggers are crisp, bores and frame recesses are bright; blue finish is 85% with thinning and scattered oxidation. Provenance: Pachmayr Family Collection. Est.: $3,500-$5,000. (C&R)
