TANK PAINTING, TRENCH LANTERN, PHOTOS & SHIP’S

LANTERN.
1) TANK PAINTING. A WWI period painting measuring approx. 11" x 9" housed in a 15 1/2" x 13 1/2" frame. An interesting rendition of a WWI allied tank moving over a German trench w/ a German soldier peering out of the trench. Consignor states that the painting is actually done on a portion of canvas airplane fuselage repurposed as a canvas for this painting. CONDITION: painting shows very light wear as does the frame.
2) TRENCH LANTERN. A sm. trench lantern measuring 9 1/4" in height w/ bail extended. Body of lantern is tinned iron & is stamped, “NR.75” on the reservoir. There is a belt clip on the back & a bail handle on the top. The globe is marked, “FEUERHAND ATOM 75 REGISTERED TRADEMARKS JENA GLAS MADE IN GERMANY INDIA DESIGN NR 58162 REGD.”. CONDITION: lantern shows light wear & appears fully operable.
3) PHOTO. A lg. framed panoramic photo of the Plymouth (12th) Division measuring 39" x 9 1/2". There appear to be thousands of soldiers in the photograph which includes the 212th Engineers, the 34th, 35th & 36th Machine Gun Battalions, the Signal Battalion, General McCain & staff, the Sanitary Train, the Supply Train, the Headquarters Troop, the Military Police, General Hodges, the 36th Infantry, the 73rd Infantry, the Division Band, the 74th Infantry, General Woodward & the 42nd Infantry. Photograph is titled, “PLYMOUTH (12th) DIVISION MAJ. GEN. H.P. MCCAIN, COMMANDING CAMP DEVENS, MASS., DEC. 3, 1918”. CONDITION: photo is undamaged, frame shows light wear.
4) PHOTO. A lg. panoramic photo print measuring 46" x 10" showing Camp Devens, Mass. Print is marked at the base, “PUBLISHED BY THE HAMENT-ROMANS CO., PHOENIX BUILDING, BALTIMORE MD. PASSED BY COMMITTEE OF PUBLIC INFORMATION”. CONDITION: print is undamaged. Frame shows light wear. (02-15956/BF).
5) BRASS SHIP’S LANTERN WITH FRESNEL STYLE LENS GLOBE. Lantern measures approx. 12 1/2" in height & 5" in diameter. It has a lamp oil burner & faceted Fresnel type lens globe. There are 6 heavy brass wires protecting the globe from damage. The top of the brass body is vented to insure proper burning of the flame. A 1 3/4" brass loop tops the lantern for suspension. A brass label attached to the top reads, “LENSE PAT’D DEC. 20 1910 OTHER PATS. PEND TRADEMARK TRIPLEX”. CONDITION: lantern is quite solid. Burner functions well. Globe has a few tiny chips on the edges of some of the prisms as is inevitable w/ this type of globe. (02-15958/BF). $600-1,000.
