Cal. 219 Donaldson Wasp. S# 918. Bbl. 29 1/2" stainless untapered 1.25" diameter w/ recessed crown. 1951 dated FN commercial Mauser 98 style action w/ Belgian proofs. S# on bottom of action. Action & bbl. both marked w/ maker name plus Rixford, PA. Underside of bbl. has "TR 321". Semi sleeved action consisting of steel upper reinforcement resembling a sleeve screw attached & soldered to receiver. Rear of action plus rear of bbl. w/ Unertl style target blocks at 10" spacing. Dayton Traister low scope safety & steel filler in bottom of receiver to create single shot. Double set trigger assembly w/ floorplate screw attached to trigger guard having non sporter appearance yet w/out military lock screws. Heavy walnut stock w/ shadow line cheekpiece & flat military style checkered steel buttplate. Grip area & forend checkered (wrap around) w/ tip of forend cut parallel to axis having oak filler block added to facilitate front rest use. Stock constructed of multiple layers of walnut. Right side of action drilled & tapped for receiver sight w/ corresponding stock relief; used prior to upper "sleeve" installation & unusable now. Swept bolt handle w/ underside of knob checkered. Bolt body & extractor are jeweled. Wasp cartridge usually mfg. from 30-30 family of casings or 30 Remington family; neither matches bolt face. Popular alternate 225 Win. case matches bolt face & can be used to create Wasp cases. CONDITION: good plus overall appearance w/ some peppery oxidation on trigger guard assembly & slight patina on balance. Stock has use marks & some delamination behind checkpiece.
