THE PERSONAL EFFECTS OF USMC CORPORAL

FLOYD W. MCALLISTER. Born in Iowa City, Iowa Oct. 6th, 1900. He appears to have enlisted into the US Army for WWI mustering into the 89th Division, 353rd Infantry, Company "F". The 353rd is known now as the "All-Kansas" regiment. The 89th division saw front line action in September 1918 when the AEF launched it's first offensive at St. Mihiel along w/ the Meuse-Argonne offensive. However, this lot primarily has effects from his service in the USMC when he applied in 1921. His records history show duty at Parris Island, SC (1921-1923) / Quantico, VA / Washington, DC / Sea Grit, NJ, / Camp Perry, OH /
On Nov 1923, he was awarded Civil Service 1st Grade MCI. On Feb 15th, 1924, he was given a special promotion to Corporal. In July 1924, was court martialed for disobeying the chief messman & using In September 1924, participated in the Special 8-3th Rifle Range Camp Perry, OH National matches. Was discharged on Nov. 21st, 1924 w/ excellent character w/ his list of awards being Good Conduct, Rifle Sharpshooter & Pistol Sharpshooter. Floyd McAllister died in Brooklyn, Iowa 1997.
The effects contained in this lot appear to be his 22" x 13" x 7" luggage case, his dress uniform, a couple of USMC banners, a 48 Star flag, 2 OD green service caps, A riker box w/ "USMC / SCORING / DETACHMENT" banner & several USMC buttons, 2 photograph books containing primarily photos of his time in service, & family & finally a few books about US Marine Corp. UNATTACHED ACCESSORIES: 2 page document detailing marine's service. CONDITION: items appear in fair to good condition w/ wear, staining, fading color & small spots of damage.
