THOMPSON M1 SMG PARTS SET LESS RECEIVER.
Cal. 45 ACP. Bbl. 10". This kit appears to have been disassembled by use of a chop saw based on remaining metallurgy. Because the vast majority of the receiver is elsewhere, we are depending on the stock & front trunnion area for markings & clues to its past. Markings on the stock “AAW” along w/ flaming bomb & crossed cannons appear to signify at some point it was rebuilt at Augusta Arsenal. Markings on the forward section of the receiver include circle bearing the initials "GEG" (from George E. Goll, the chief inspector of the Auto-Ordnance Corporation), it also bears the "FJA" acceptance stamp (of Colonel Frank J. Atwood) in the same location. Included w/ this parts set are 2 M1 style bolts, original bbl. w/ front sight (pressed into 2" front receiver section), a cocking handle, recoil spring & retaining rod, wooden forend, buttstock & 2 pistol grips. MAGS: 2 - 30 rd. CONDITION: most of the exposed metal parts including entire bore & bbl. assembly were packed in cosmoline upon arrival & gentle cleaning has uncovered a still messy bore bearing deep rifling. Buttstock is very dark & displays numerous impressions. Original pistol grip also dark, matching buttstock, but missing a large piece of wood at the rear of the grip. Second pistol grip appears unissued. Mags. both illustrate a heavy patina & could have benefited from the same cosmoline treatment. (02-14515/JZ). $900-1,200.
