THREE CIVIL WAR OFFICER'S SWORDS.
1) PRESENTATION MODEL 1852 NAVAL OFFICER’S SWORD. Standard configuration w/ the USN cast in ribbon on bottom of guard, 28" blade w/ patriotic naval motifs & etched panel in script “S. F. Albert Buhner”. Albert Buhner is found on the retired list of the U.S. Navy as Senior Captain in the Revenue Marine for meritorious service during the Civil War, September 1861-July 1866. CONDITION: very good overall. Blade has some original luster & well defined etched panels; grip is sound w/ wear at high spots of shark skin. Scabbard is complete, leather dry & crackled; no remaining gilt, brass has been cleaned & toned to light patina. 2) MODEL 1850 STAFF & FIELD OFFICERS SWORD. High-grade w/ metal grip & eagle head quillon. CONDITION: 32" blade is dark w/ areas of rust, nicks in cutting edge, tiny traces of guilt in protected areas of hilt. 3) NON REGULATION MOUNTED OFFICER’S SWORD having branched guard w/ scrolls. Quillon has cast patriotic shield & leaf design on top. CONDITION: 31.5" blade has traces of etching. Grip is bare wood & only half remains. Iron scabbard is brass mounted, overall pitted, brass hilt & scabbard mts. have dark olive patina. (02-13857(3)/JS). $600-800.
